Clearly visible from Fort La Latte, and linked to it by a 5 km coastal footpath, are the 70 m-high cliffs of Cap Fréhel, from which pokes a 30 m tall, square-towered lighthouse. It overlooks a smaller round tower, Vauban Lighthouse (1685), one of the oldest lighthouse in France. The surrounding sea cliffs of deep pink, stratified sandstone are alive with sea birds in spring and summer.
